Walter F. Johnson, 84, passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at his home in Joplin. Walter was born April 4, 1933 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Frank and Mabel “Lechty” Johnson. Walter was a long-time resident of the Joplin area and worked at Fred’s Frozen Foods.
Walter was united in marriage to Erma Cole May 25, 1956 in Long Beach, California. She preceded him in death July 1992.
Walter is survived by two daughters, Debra Shipman (Gary) and Diana Coupe (Vince), both of Joplin; three grandchildren, Benjamin F. Steeples, Amanda Cox, and S. Charles Steeples.
Walter is preceded in death by one brother Robert Johnson, one sister Glenys “Johnson” Etzel, and one grandson Michael Peterson.
Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 8, 2017 at Ulmer Funeral Home. Visitation will be held prior to the service at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be at Park Cemetery in Carthage.
