(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)Irene Elfriede Foster, of Carl Junction, MO., passed away comfortably on October 30, 2024, at the Solace House in Joplin, MO.
Irene was born on July 14, 1932, in Germany by the late Paul and Gertrude Werner. Also, sister, Heidimare Werner and brother, Wolf Gang Werner.
During Irene and the family’s stay in Columbus, Georgia, while Bernard was fighting wars in Korea and Vietnam, she was raising 4 kids and getting her citizenship. Also working in the laundry mat, washing, drying, and ironing the soldiers’ uniforms before moving to Texas in 1970. She went to work at Avis as a short order cook at Ft. Hood for about 8 years.
Before changing jobs and finishing her career at 7-11 (Southland Corp.). She always believed in hard work to get ahead. During her retirement she raised her 6 grandkids and always provided for family and friends.
Irene married Bernard Dale Foster, Sr., he preceded her in death on September 12, 2015. She was also preceded in death by her parents.

Irene is survived by her children, Bernard D. Foster, Jr., William J. Foster, Robert L. Foster, Joy L. Foster, and Michael Werner; grandchildren, Bernard Foster III, Todd Foster, Robert L. Foster, Jr., Christina M. Foster, Garrett A. Foster, Caelyn B. Foster, Ryan Foster, Amy Foster, David Smith, Austin Smith, Andrea and Michael, Johannes, Thomas, Peter and Susanne; great-grandchildren, Nathan Foster, Lorelai Foster, Hadley Smith, Ryatt Smith, Andrea Werner, Marla and Alexander.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services have been scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX. The family will receive friends during a time of visitation on Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home also in Killeen, TX.
