(From Derfelt Funeral Home)Gary Dean "Huffy" Huffman, age72 of Galena, passed away at 7:24 PM on Friday, February 7, 2025 at Galena Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Gary was born on December 9, 1952 to the union of John Henry Huffman and Verda Mae (Johnson) Huffman. He attended Galena Schools, and later began working in maintenance at Pacific Molasses and later at Wadler's Manufacturing. He attended Galena Assembly of God Church, and was also a member of the Galena Elk's Lodge and the Golden Gloves. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, dominoes, playing cards, and gambling.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Gary Deatn Huffman, Jr.; two brothers, John Arthur "Red: Huffman, and Walter Huffman; one sister, Mary Wendt; one brother-in-law, Jimmy Ellison; and one sister-in-law, Kathy Huffman.
Survivors include one son, Clifford Huffman (wife, Donella) of Joplin, MO; one daughter, Kristy Hufffman of Wichita, KS; five brothers, Melvin Huffman (wife, Prudence), Richard Huffman (wife, Carol), Frank "Duke" Huffman, Dennis Huffman (wife, Barbara "Susie"), and Larry Huffman; one sister, Natha Ellison; eight grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
Mr. Huffman has been entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home of Galena for cremation. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at Derfelt Funeral Home of Galena. Melvin Huffman will officiate.
