(From Ozark Funeral Home)Hilma Frances Hines, 88, of Powell, Missouri, a cherished matriarch and beacon of love and strength, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 3, 2025, at Medicalodge Care Center in Neosho, Missouri, after months of failing health.
She entered this life on August 11, 1936, in Shell Knob, daughter
of the late Jesse “Doc” and Sally (Mahurin) Mitchell.
Raised in the Fairview and Stella areas of Missouri, Hilma was a longtime resident of Powell, Missouri, where she cultivated a home filled with warmth and joy. A devoted homemaker, she dedicated her life to nurturing her family, creating a legacy of kindness and care that will be remembered by all who knew her. Hilma's unwavering commitment to her loved ones was the cornerstone of her life, and her presence was a comforting constant through the years.
Hilma's life was marked by her deep faith, as she was a dedicated member of the Wheaton Church of Christ. Her spiritual devotion was evident in her everyday actions and the gracious way she treated others.
In addition to her role as a homemaker, Hilma had a variety of interests that brought joy to her and those around her. She was a wonderful cook, known for her delicious meals that brought the family together around the table. Her talent for crocheting created countless treasures that will be cherished for generations. Hilma's love for collecting Barbie dolls was matched only by her love for a bit of sparkle, as she was always known to appreciate her bling. Above all, Hilma's beautiful smile was a reflection of the love and happiness that filled her life.
She is survived by six daughters, Vivian Sanders, and husband, Jerry, of Washburn, Kay Rose and husband, Howard, also of Washburn, Lillian Fairchild and husband, Ed, of Pineville, Lou Ann Lankford and husband, Ron, of Neosho, Madeline Horton and husband, Leon, of Rocky Comfort and Susan Morton and husband, David, of Neosho; sixteen grandchildren, Jerry Dale, Gayla, Shelly, Angie, Stacy, Johnny, Michael, Tracy, Sharon, Baker, Chris, Amanda, Chad, Matt, Trevor and Tianna; forty-three great grandchildren; twenty-two great-great grandchildren; a sister, Shirley McKinley of Anderson; as well as a host of other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of sixty-six years, J.D. Hines; a great granddaughter, Olivia Horton; five brothers; and one sister.
Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 7, 2025 in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Scott Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery near Longview. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Jerry Sanders, Jerry Dale Sanders, Howard Rose, Jamie Cornell, Ed Fairchild, Ron Lankford, Leon Horton and David Morton, with her grandsons serving as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 5-7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.

Memorials are being directed to the Union Cemetery Care Fund c/o the funeral home. Following the burial service the family will gather at First Baptist Church in Pineville for a luncheon. Food can be delivered to the church fellowship hall. For those who wish, please wear something red to honor her memory. Arrangements are under the care of Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Missouri.
