Lola Schooler

Lola Faye (Baker) Schooler, 83, passed away Saturday, February 8, 2025, in Carthage, Missouri. Lola was married to Marvin Schooler; he preceded her in death in 2014.


Lola was born April 14, 1941, in Berryville, Arkansas to Maynard and Eartle Baker; both her parents have preceded her in death. At age 5, the family moved to Carthage, Missouri, where she lived in and around most of her life.







Lola was preceded in death by her brother, Lealand Baker, and sister, Bonnie Baker.


Lola had three children, Valeta Gray (preceded Lola on August 8, 2022), Kevin Guy Benfield (Geri) of Thayer, Missouri, and Marilyn Renea Benfield (Eric Marks) of Carthage, Missouri; four grandchildren, Aaron Benfield (Kristi), Benjamin Benfield (Brandi), Jesse Marks, and Michelle Smith; three great grandchildren; two nieces, Debbie Baker, and Anita Quinn; and one nephew, Jerry Etchison.

Lola was the first woman bus driver for Diamond, Missouri schools. She also drove school buses for East Newton, Neosho, and Carthage schools for about 26 years total. Lola also worked at Jasper Popcorn Plant for 10 years.







Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 13, 2025, at Ulmer Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 14, 2025, at Hale Cemetery in Oak Grove, Arkansas.
