(From Nichols Funeral Home)Roger K. Jones, 72, of Grove, Oklahoma, passed away on September 9, 2025 in Joplin, Missouri. He was born on June 13, 1953, in Amarillo, Texas to Jay and Katherine (Williams) Jones. He was a beloved figure in his community and a devoted family man.
Roger graduated from Lakin High School in Lakin, KS, and lived there all of his life until 2015, when he and his wife, Julie, made their home on the lake in Grove, OK. He was known for his outgoing and kind-hearted nature, always patient and tolerant, and deeply cherished his time with family.
Before moving to Grove, Roger raised pigs, farmed and worked for Oneok for 28 years until retirement. They loved to go camping with family and friends just about every weekend. He always had projects lined up to work on as he always stayed busy. Their kids and grandkids were their pride and joy. He loved them big and was always there to support them in any way he could. Roger was part of a few bowling leagues and town team volleyball league for many years with their daughter and son-in-law. He was a member of the Pride committee for many years and always helping someone. The couple loved to travel and have traveled to many, many places over the years and made many wonderful memories.
Roger married Julie (Peel) in Las Vegas, Nevada on December 15, 1986, and the couple moved to Grove in 2015. He was a devoted member of Church of the Shepherd (COS).
Roger had a passion for the outdoors, particularly boating and fishing. He was an active member of the American Boating Club and enjoyed spending time at his lake house, cruising in his Dodge Challenger, and engaging in muscle car events. His love for boating extended to jet skiing, making the most of his time on the water.
He is survived by his wife, Julie Jones; children Carrie Carmichael of Kansas City, MO, Scott Baxley (Debbie) of Ft. Worth, TX, Julia Burns (Brett) of Dighton, KS, and Lisa Loeppke (Wade) of Lakin, KS; siblings Cheryl Kopfman (Jack) of Oronogo, MO, Kris (Donna) Jones of Ankeny, IA, and Mike Jones of Grove, OK. Roger was a proud grandfather to 26 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his infant sister, Terri Lynn.
Services will be held at 10 am on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Church of the Shepherd in Grove, OK, with burial at a later date in Deerfield, Kansas Cemetery. Nichols-Stephens Funeral & Cremation Services of Grove, OK, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Roger's life was marked by his love for his family, his dedication to his career, and his enthusiasm for his hobbies. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
