(From Derfelt Funeral Home)Stanley L. Forrest Sr., age 84, of Pittsburg, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2025.
Stanley was born to William and Una (Jones) Forrest on May 6, 1941, in Mulberry, Kansas. He was proud to make his career as a train conductor, working for the Frisco Railroad (later bought out by Burlington Northern Santa Fe), the job from which he retired.
On September 16, 1961, Stanley was united in marriage to Carolyn Sue Hurt in Pittsburg, Kansas. She preceded him in death February 8, 2015. He was a member of the VFW, Vulcan Masonic Lodge of Walnut, KS, and was a member of the Mirza Shrine of Pittsburg, KS. Among his hobbies were gardening, fishing, hunting, and sports; but it was also common for him to be seen out having breakfast with his friends. Stanley, remembered as a "Proud Papa," greatly enjoyed his family, spending time with his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids.
Preceding Stanley in death include his parents William and Una Forrest, wife Carolyn Forrest, sister Eva DeBoutez, and brother William Forrest.

He is survived by his son Stan Forrest of Pittsburg, KS; daughter Sheila Forrest of Carl Junction, MO; grandchildren Mariah Forrest, fiancé Julian Smith of Concordia, KS, and Bryce Forrest of Carl Junction, MO; great-granddaughters Anniston and Aliyrah; brother Bobbie Forrest of Farlington, KS; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Derfelt Funeral Home of Columbus, KS. The family will host a graveside memorial service at Rosebank Cemetery in Mulberry, KS, on September 6, 2025, at 10:00 AM, with Masonic Rites and Military Honors. Reverend Jim Sukraw will officiate the service. The family of Stanley Forrest suggests expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorials to Cloud County Community College Wrestling Program.
