Donald Bachner

Donald A. Bachner, age 93 of Mound Valley, Kansas, passed away at his home on December 3, 2025 following declining health. Donald was born January 22, 1932 in Chicago, IL to the late Aurther J. and Lela (Bade) Bachner.

Donald grew up in the Chicago, Illinois area, graduating school, enlisted into the United States Air Force and eventually started his career in engineering. He was a man of many trades, took on many different hobbies and did them all with great pride in his work. Donald owned Bach International in Joplin for many years. He was a former member of the Joplin Elks Lodge for over 18 years. Donald was a talented painter, painting duck decoys and collected many different military memorabilia.








It was in Chicago that he met Berna Kelsey and the two of them got married in March of 1981 in Las Vegas, Nevada after knowing each other for many years. The two were nearly inseparable and loved traveling from trade show to trade show.

Donald is survived by his wife, Berna Bachner of the home; daughters, Kathleen Oppman and Jane Kelley, both of North Carolina; step-son, Jon Hutchison of Manito, Illinois; daughter in-law, Kathy Hutchinson of Joplin; numerous grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.








Other than his parents, Donald is preceded in death by a son, Aurther Bachner; daughter, Christine Thomas; stepson, Robert Hutchinson; brother, Charles Bachner and sister, Jacqueline Wall.

No services are planned at this time. Burial will take place at a later date near Chicago, Illinois.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
