(From Ulmer Funeral Home)Lou William Kester, 52, of Carthage, Missouri, passed away on Monday, November 24, 2025, at Freeman Hospital in Joplin. Lou was born in Shawnee Mission, Kansas, on August 24, 1973, to Lou and Donna Jo Kester. He has lived in Carthage since he was 8 years old and a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church. He was a self-employed truck driver.
He is survived by a son, Matthew Kester; and two daughters, Madalyn Smothers (Bryson) and Scarlett Courtney; his mom, Donna Jo Kester; five grandsons, Dawson, Salem, Jonah, Theodore, and Orion; and one granddaughter, Luna, all of Carthage, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his dad, Lou Ernest Kester; and two brothers, Sean Kester and Shane Kester.
There will be a funeral mass held for Lou at 2:00 PM on Friday, December 12, 2025, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Carthage, Missouri. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM prior to the service at St. Ann’s Catholic Church.
