(From Parker Mortuary)Marie Elizabeth Cox, 89, of Joplin, MO, joined Our Lord on Monday, December 8, 2025, at home with her sister at her side, after her battle with cancer.
Marie was born to the late Cleve F. and Susie Mae (Cunningham) Foster on April 18, 1936, in Joplin, MO. Marie was a graduate of Joplin High School, Class of 1956. She worked for Ferguson’s Medical Lab for many years until her retirement in September of 1993.
Marie was united in marriage to Bobby Joe Cox on August 14, 1976. Marie loved photography, Bob and her took photos of anything that caught their attention, from family to old mills, churches and wild life. She loved to crochet and knit. She also loved theater, she was very active in the Joplin Little Theater, whether she was in the show or directing it. After her retirement, she volunteered at Joplin Elementary Schools helping children read. She loved working with the students.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; five brothers, Cleo, Clancy, Ray, Robert and Carl Lee; one sister; her parents; three nephews; and one niece.
Marie is survived by her sister, Betty Arnce, of Joplin; niece, Christy Roberts and husband, Barry; several nieces and nephews; one step-daughter; and one grandchild.
The family of Marie would love to thank Trinity Hospice for caring for her like she was a part of their family.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made out to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. at Parker Mortuary with the funeral to begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Osborne Memorial Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements are under the special care and direction of Parker Mortuary.
