Earl Ezra Frayer, age 79, of Mindenmines, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly Friday evening, September 11, 2015 at his home.
Earl and his identical twin brother, Ernie were born August 22, 1936 in Evergreen, Wisconsin, the first of the 11 children of Ernest and Marie (West) Frayer. On January 9, 1989, at Mindenmines, Earl married Mary Lou Main and she preceded him in death July 10, 2011. He was also preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Floyd Frayer.
Enlisting in the U.S. Army November 5, 1955, Earl served in an infantry/tank division in Illinois, Germany, and France. Returning home in March of 1958, he began a 20 year career in long distance trucking. Earl owned and operated his own truck and was an excellent diesel mechanic. He had also worked for the Crawford County Highway Department for five years before retiring to do part-time lawn care around Mindenmines. Earl contributed time and effort to his community, serving for many years as an alderman and volunteer firefighter.
Survivors include a son, Ken (Lisa A.) Frayer of Mindenmines; two daughters, Janet (Rodney) Hula and Lisa B. Frayer all of Pittsburg, Kansas; the mother of Earl’s children, Norma Frayer Showalter; five brothers, Ernie, Leon, Oravel, Gene, and Nobel Frayer; three sisters, Agnes Andrews, Helen Richter, and Alyce Frayer; four grandchildren, Chad (Stacey) Thompson, Rachelle (Jon) Connally, Mike Hula and Jacob Frayer (Kelli Lawrence); and four great-grandchildren, Brian Talieson Frayer, Conner Philip Frayer, Ezria Lynn Thompson, and Vivian Lee Thompson.
A graveside funeral service was held Wednesday, September 16th, at Shiloh Cemetery with full military honors.
