Troy A. Pennington, 91, Carthage, passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at the National Health Care Center, Joplin. Troy Arthur Pennington was born April 10, 1924 in Miller, MO; a son of the late Franklin Andrew Pennington and Nellie Wilson Pennington. He married Frances Cline on June 7, 1986 in Webb City, MO; she survives. Troy was an automotive serviceman for R&S Chevrolet of Joplin, Jack Morris Chevrolet, for 53 years, Shumaker/Blum and Howard Buick, Chevrolet & Olds, all of Carthage, MO. Troy retired from the automotive business after more than 60 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran during WWII and a member of the Born Again/Full Gospel Church, Webb City, MO, where he served as a deacon and also at other churches. Later in life, one of his biggest hobbies became playing the guitar.
Additional survivors include four daughters; Merry Frances Jones, Laurie Ann Pippin, Sharon Kay Smith and Kayla Franklin, all of Carthage; six grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Thomas Calvin Pennington, a sister, Anna Emaline Hood and three brothers, Lawrence, Chester and Raymond Pennington.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 7:00 PM, Tuesday, September 8 at Knell Mortuary, Carthage. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM, Wednesday, September 9 in the Knell Mortuary Chapel. Rev. Kenneth Miner will officiate. Interment will be in Park Cemetery, Carthage. Online condolences may be expressed through www.knellmortuary.com.
