Herman A. Harrington, age 88 of Joplin, went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, September 10, 2015 at National Health Care in Joplin.
Herman was born on October 8, 1926 in Carterville, Missouri to the late Carroll A. Harrington and Leatha Reed Harrington. He was a 1941 graduate of Webb City High School and then enlisted into the U.S. Navy. After his service, he attended the University of Missouri where he graduated in 1951 with his degree in Engineering which he used locally for different industries. Herman was a faithful member and deacon at Fellowship Baptist Church in Joplin for many years.
On August 8, 1949, Herman married Joyce Wommack in Joplin, she survives in the home.
Additional survivors include a son, Douglas Harrington and wife, Betty of Adrian, Michigan; grandchildren, Jeannie, Brent, Nicholas, James, Jonathan, Benjamin, Scott and Chase; six great-grandchildren; sister, Marva Kniss of Gresham, Oregon; son in-laws, Gregory Holz and Ronald Robson.
Herman is preceded in death by daughters, Constance Robson and Jeanne Holz; infant son, Brent Lee; siblings, Carl, Opal and Margaret.
Funeral arrangements are set for Tuesday, September 15th at 2:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary in Joplin with interment to follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to American Heart Association in care of the mortuary.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
