Joan Miller Evans, age 82, a longtime Carl Junction resident, passed away at 6:40 a.m. Monday, May 02, 2016 at St. Luke’s Nursing Center in Carthage, Mo. Joan was born November 15, 1933 in Joplin, Mo., the daughter of Blondville and Garnet Witten Bennett. Joan was a graduate of Carl Junction High School and Joplin Junior College. She served for several years as the Office Manager for the Girl Scouts Ozark Council.
Joan was married to her first husband, Floyd R. Miller for 30 years, passing away in 1984. She married Robert E. Evans in 2004 and he preceded her in death in 2015. She and Robert operated a watch and clock business at the Joplin Flea Market. They thoroughly enjoyed their days there where they made good friends and acquaintances. Joan found happiness with her grandchildren, Dusty and Ashley during their childhood activities and as successful adults. She had a great impact on their lives. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is now at peace and free from pain.
Survivors include a daughter, Marcia Emmert, Carl Junction, two grandchildren, Dusty Emmert and wife Lacy, Springfield, Mo., and Ashley Emmert and significant other, Kellie Schulze, Tulsa, Ok. and four great grandchildren, Kolbeigh and Korbyn, Tulsa, Ok. and Brayden and Hallie, Springfield, Mo.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Carl Junction Cemetery with Boyce Mouton, Minister, officiating. The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Mortuary, prior to the services. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary of Joplin, Mo.
