Barbara Atterberry

Mrs. Barbara J. Atterberry, 79, of Gilbert, Arizona, formerly of Granby/Diamond, Missouri area, departed this life on Saturday, March 11, 2017.

Barbara entered this life on April 11, 1937 to the union of the late Clebert and Dora (Strong) Turner in Van Buren, Missouri. She was raised in the Granby and Diamond, Missouri area. On June 19, 1954 she was united in marriage to James Atterberry, Jr., together they shared forty-six years until his passing on October 10, 2000. She pastored and attended the Bible Holiness Church. Barbara loved animals, music, flower gardening, laughing and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Don Lowery and a brother, Gene Turner.

Barbara is survived by her children, Debbie Ritter and husband Eldon, of Chandler, Arizona, Mike Atterberry of Prescott Arizona, Tonya Curtis and husband, Shawn of Gilbert, Arizona and Randy Atterberry of Los Angeles, California; grandchildren, Stacey Peace and husband Rich, of Gilbert, Arizona, Aaron Asbury and wife Katie of Strang, Oklahoma, Kris Lowery and wife Tonya of Abbott, Texas and Heather McElwain of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; seven great grandchildren; and one sister, Gerry Warner; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Atterberry were hel Friday, March 17, 2017 with Pastor David Spivey officiating. Burial followed in Stone Cemetery. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers were Aaron Asbury, Kris Lowery, Shawn Curtis, Gale Ratliff, Larry Tarrant and Jim Queen. Honorary pallbearer, Eldon Ritter.
