Donna Young

Mrs. Donna M. Young, 85, of Carthage, Missouri formerly of Sarcoxie, Missouri departed this life on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Donna entered this life on April 6, 1931 in Bolivar, Missouri daughter of the late Joe and Eva (Burks) McColm.

Donna was a graduate of Bolivar High School and later attended Southwest Baptist College. On May 26, 1956 in Springfield, Missouri she was united in marriage to John Arthur Young, together they shared fifty-two years until his passing on September 21, 2008. She and John owned and operated Young’s IGA in Sarcoxie from 1964 to 1975. They also owned and operated the Young’s Quick Stop in Diamond, Missouri for 6 years, and from 1988 until 1994 they owned Young’s Deli and Donut in Sarcoxie. After retiring, she and John made their home in Carthage, Missouri. She was a member of the Victory Baptist Church in Carthage, Missouri. Donna enjoyed yard work and flowers, having coffee with her coffee ladies as well as spending time with her church ladies and with her family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; and brother, Earl Gene McColm.

Donna is survived by four sons, Michael Joe Kent and wife Aline, of Pelham, North Carolina, John Young Jr., and wife Nancy, of Reeds, Missouri, David Young and wife Sonya, of Carthage, Missouri and Fred Young and wife, Laura, of Blue Springs, Missouri; grandchildren, Michael Kent Jr., Jonathan Kent, Summer Young, David Kent, Megan Phillips, Cassandra Kuykendall, Todd Young, Tyler Young, Kayla Thomas and Kendall Young; twelve great grandchildren; and three step great grandchildren; one sister, Kay Davis and husband Larry, of St. Peters, Missouri; two sisters-in law, Barbara McColm of Bolivar, Missouri and Betty Brown of Aurora, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Graveside services for Donna M. Young are 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 13, 2017 at Sarcoxie Cemetery, Sarcoxie, Missouri with Michael Kent and Fred Young officiating.

Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Michael Kent Jr., Jonathan Kent, David Kent, Todd Young, Tyler Young, Kendall Young, Greg Stotler, Josh Phillips, Chris Kuykendall and Nick Thomas.

In lieu of flowers memorial are being directed to the Victory Baptist Church and may be left at the funeral home.
