Jimmy R. “Jim” Brock, age 73, of Webb City, Mo., passed away on January 2, 2018 at Freeman Hospital, following an illness.
Jim was born on August 13, 1944 in Anthony, Ks., the son of the late Raymond E. and Helen L. (Duncan) Brock. He has been a lifetime area resident. He served in the United States Air Force and was a veteran of the Vietnam War and the Cold War. Jim met the love of his life while serving in the U.S.A.F. in England. They were married on February 29, 1964 in Kings Lynn, England where they started their family before coming back to Joplin in 1966. In 1985 Jim opened and operated Brock Sheet Metal. He retired in 2006. He was a member of the former McKinley Avenue Baptist Church. He attended with his family Christ’s Church of Oronogo. Jim adored his grandchildren. He spent many hours fishing with his son, grandson, and great-grandson, and snuggling with his great-granddaughter, Gracelynn.
Jim is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Shirley Brock, Webb City, Mo., one son, Darrell Brock and wife Karen, Webb City, Mo.; one daughter, Beverly Brewer and husband Troy, Carl Junction, Mo.; one brother, Ralph Brock and wife Susan, Webb City, Mo.; one sister, Marilyn Spidle; five grandchildren, Nathan Hulstine and wife Amber, Natalee Gleason and husband Tyler, Alec Eubanks, Aidan Brock, and Christian Brock; two great-grandchildren, Brock Hulstine and Gracelynn Gleason; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Mason-Woodard Chapel. Reverend Jarel Burnside will officiate. Burial will be in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. The visitation will be 6-7 p.m. Friday at the mortuary.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Wounded Warrior Project in care of the mortuary.
