Althea Southern

Althea Lousie Southern went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 2, 2025.

Althea was born April 9, 1930, in Fidelity MO to Arthur and Reva Randall Cupp. She attended Fidelity grade school and Victory High School in Duenweg, MO. She married Floyd Southern on July 27, 1953. After getting married, the couple moved to Pittsburg, KS. To this union were born two sons Michael and Steven Southern.

Althea was a homemaker and was a self-employed photo negative retoucher. She was a long-time member of Trinity Baptist Church and ran the children's nursery for many years.

Althea is survived by her son Michael and his wife Kim of Carl Junction and their daughter Ashley and her husband Doug Devoe of Loma Linda, MO. Althea is also survived by her Son Steve of Pittsburg, her grandson Clayton Southern of Pittsburg, her granddaughter Jodie and her husband Dan Tirawi and her great grandson Ellis Tirawi of Pittsburg. 

She was preceded in death by her husband Floyd Southern, her Daughter-In-Law Lori Ann Southern, two brothers Lloyd Cupp of Diamond, MO, Paul Cupp of Carl Junction, MO. Three Sisters Dorris Cupp, Gale Barnes of Galena, KS, Katherine Brill of Carthage, MO.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at Weaver Cemetery, located at 14024 County Road 250, Oronogo, Missouri, 64855, with Pastor Jordan Hodges officiating. Friends are requested to meet at the cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Trinity Baptist Church and can be left in care of Brenner Mortuary at 114 E. Fourth St., Pittsburg, Kansas, 66762. Arrangements are under the direction of Brenner Mortuary.
