Sam Jay Harper, age 69, of Joplin, MO, passed away Wednesday, April 09, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his family.
Sam was born April 12, 1944 to the late William and Pearl Wilderson Harper in Kennard, NE.
On May 29, 1974, Sam married Geraldine Holder in Hastings, NE. Sam was a delivery driver for many years and then worked for Fastrip prior to finally retiring due to health.
Survivors include his wife, Geraldine of the home; sons, Craig Rathjen of Springfield, MO, Ricky Rathjen of Talladega, AL; daughters, Vickie Martin and husband Pat of Grand Island, NE, Terri Lovato and husband Will of Sheldon, MO; sister, JoAnn Reed and husband Don of Clear Lake, IA; 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren.
Preceding Sam in death is one daughter, Wanda Gosnell, two sisters and one brother.
No services are planned at this time.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, MO.
