This bright sunny day Gay went to meet her Lord. Gay Nell Landon McReynolds passed away October 12, 2015 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin. She had been in poor health for several months prior to her death.
Gay was born to Ivan Landon and Violet Landon in Anderson, MO. She was an identical twin to Fay Bell Doll who survives. We always joked about her being Fay’s older sister by 4 minutes. Gay married James Lynn McReynolds May 3, 1950 and he preceded her in death June 18, 1999.
She is survived by 4 daughters; Carolyn McGinnis of Neosho, Sheryl Sarrgent of Webb City, Denise Eichelberger and husband Terry of Webb City and Betsy Phillips and Bob Alexander of Joplin and one daughter in law, Carol Sue McReynolds of Springfield. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, Michelle McGinnis of Webb City, Marcus McGinnis of Oronogo, Amanda Sanders of Neosho, Jennifer Murray of Webb City, Rickey Sarrgent, Jr. of Carterville, Levi Eichelberger of Granby, Casey Eichelberger of Webb City, Kimber Phillips of Joplin, Kaitlin Phillips of Duenweg, Michael Wheatman of Oklahoma, David Powell of Springfield, Joseph Powell of Springfield and Michael Powell of Fayetteville, Ark; 30 great grandchildren and her twin, Fay Doll and numerous relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband J.L. McReynolds, 1 son, Jim (Mac) McReynolds and 2 great grandchildren, Ashlynn Phillips and Evan Sarrgent, 1 son in law, Everett McGinnis.
Gay was loved by anyone who knew her. Gay was a member of the First Christian Church of Webb City. She was also a lifetime member of the Webb City VFW 7630 and the Webb City American Legion Post 322. She and her husband traveled all over the world while he was in the service. They also hosted several foreign exchange students, Christiana of Germany, Suzana from Ecuador, Junko from Japan and Lasse from Norway and Gassan from Costa Rica.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am Thursday at the First Christian Church in Webb City with Pastor Mike Geisert officiating. Burial will follow at the Oronogo Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 14 from 6:00 – 7:00 pm at the Simpson Funeral Home of Webb City. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Mid American Transplant Services in care of the funeral home.
