Paul J. Woods, age 82 of Joplin, passed away surrounded by his family at his home on Monday, October 19, 2015 after a short illness.
Born January 22, 1933 in Skiatook, OK, he was the son of the late Cecil and Mamie Duncan Woods. Paul worked as a carpenter all of his life and belonged to the Carpenters' Union Local 311 in Joplin. He had worked for Goetz and Ketron Construction and retired from Bingham Brothers. He was a member of Joplin Elks Lodge No. 501.
On August 28, 1981 he married Kathryn Carter in Miami, OK. She survives.
Additional survivors include children, Beverly Wortman of Grand Island, NE, Paul Woods, Jr. of Galena, KS, Toni Woods and wife Shelley of Knotts Island, NC, Paul Michael Clemens and wife Marla of Galena, KS, Carl Woods and wife Gayle of Grand Island, Sue Woods of Joplin, Tom Woods and wife Theresa of Joplin, Bobbi Harper and husband Kenneth of Crestline, KS, David Clemens of Texarkana, AR; three brothers, Lawrence Woods of Joplin, Don Woods and wife Jan of Kansas City, MO, Charlie Woods and wife Sharon of Crown Point, IN; three sisters, Betty Terry of Duenweg, MO, Georgia Harmon of Joplin, Patty Turley of Panama City, FL; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patty Channel; a son, Don Clemens; and a sister, Rosetta Harmon.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Parker Mortuary with Rev. Johnny Wilkins officiating. Interment will follow at Green Lawn Cemetery near Melrose, KS with family serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.
