Gerald W. Melugin, 80, passed away Sunday, October 18, 2015 at Mercy Hospital, Joplin, MO. Gerald Wayne Melugin was born February 16, 1935 in Carthage, a son of the late Gerald E. Melugin and Mary Haizlip Melugin. Gerald was a graduate of Carthage Senior High School, Class of 1952, member of the former Carthage Jaycees and attended Center Point Christian Church. He was a retired pipeline worker for Coolset Corporation, Texas.
Survivors include a sister, Doris (Bob) Moorehouse, Carthage; a close friend, Michael Hillman, Joplin; nieces, Andrea (Chas) Ziulkowski, Carl Junction, MO; nephew, Michael Wayne Moorehouse, Carthage; great niece, Emily Moorehouse; great nephews; Joshua Allen, David Allen and Brian Ziulkowski; seven great great nieces, nephews and Gizmo, companion and best friend.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 7:00 PM, Wednesday, October 21 at the Knell Mortuary, Carthage. Private family graveside services will be held at a later date.
Memorial gifts are suggested to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association and the Cystic Fibrosis Association. Services are under the direction and personal care of Knell Mortuary, 308 W. Chestnut, Carthage, MO.
