Samuel Spatafora

Samuel P. Spatafora 57, of Pittsburg, KS died 2:42am August 26, 2017 at his home following a sudden illness.

Samuel was born April 4, 1960 in Melrose Park, IL the son of Samuel P. and Betty J. (Grove) Spatafora. He was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of Columbus High School in 1978. On August 17, 2007 

Samuel married Crystal M. Fields in Miami, OK; she survives at the home. In Samuel’s early years he worked on an Off Shore Oil Rig near Houston, TX; he later worked in residential home improvement for 20 years founding Handy Sam's. Samuel was of the Catholic Faith; loved hunting, fishing and was known as a loving husband, father and friend. 

Survivors include children Samantha Schmitt of Joplin, MO, Adam Spatafora of Pittsburg, KS, Vince Rakestraw of Pittsburg, KS, Carl Rakestraw of Pittsburg, KS and Jasper Fields of Pittsburg, KS; siblings Kathy Bond of Columbus, KS, Debbie Spatafora of Grove, OK, Cindy Skahan and husband Rick of Columbus, KS, Sherry Thigpen and husband Jim of Columbus, KS, Dan Spatafora and wife Angela of Oswego, KS and David Spatafora of Columbus, KS; 6 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Samuel was preceded in death by his parents and brother in law Tom Bond.
Per Samuel’s wishes private burial will take place at Park Cemetery in Columbus, KS. Arrangements and services are under the direction of Bath-Naylor Funeral Home of Pittsburg, KS.
