Alice Callaway

Mrs. Alice Ann “Totsy” Callaway, 81, of Joplin, Missouri, our beloved Mom, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, March 24, 2023, at Webb City Health and Rehab after months of declining health. 

 As she entered the Kingdom of Heaven, she was reunited with her husband, Ed; her parents, Jim Craton, Mildred Cramer and stepfather, Bill Cramer; and her three sisters, Jenell Roderique, Betty Kutz and Louise Bellm.






 

Alice entered this life on September 17, 1941, in Wentworth, Missouri, the youngest of four daughters born to the late James and Mildred (Gorman) Craton. Her formative years were spent in Wentworth and Joplin. 

Alice married John Manley, Jr. and to this union and daughter and son were born, Tara and John, III. She later married Edward Callaway of Joplin on August 5, 1966, in Miami, Oklahoma. Alice loved music, dancing, golfing and spending countless hours with her family. She worked in the office at St. Peter’s Catholic Church for over twenty-five years, retiring in 2010.






 

Alice is survived by her two children, Tara Kennedy and John Manley, III, both of Joplin; five grandchildren, Crystal Kennedy, Aubrey Kennedy-Jones, Tyler Kennedy, John Manley, IV and Nikolas Manley; four great grandchildren; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday afternoon, March 28, 2023, at 2:30 p.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Joplin with Father Brian Straus officiating. Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Pierce City, Missouri. Her grandchildren will honor her life by serving as pallbearers and her nieces and nephews as honorary. The family will receive friends on Tuesday at the church beginning at 1:30 p.m. Memorial are being directed to St. Peter’s Catholic Church c/o the mortuary. Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary in Joplin, Missouri.
