Lynette Gass

Lynette Sue “Nana” Gass, 73, Carthage, Missouri, passed away late Monday evening, March 20, 2023, at her home with family by her side. 

Lynette was born August 27, 1949, in Valley City, North Dakota, the daughter of the late John W. Higginbotham, Sr. and Ethel Louise (Nichols) Higginbotham. She was a proud member of the Carthage High School class of 1967. Lynette then attended cosmetology school in Springfield, Missouri, and received her cosmetology license in 1968. 

She married Don Gass on March 18, 1985, in Miami, Oklahoma. She was a member of the Grace Episcopal Church, Carthage. Lynette was a giver, had the kindest heart, and loved her family deeply.








Survivors include her husband of 38 years, Don Gass; two daughters, Lindsey Hettinger (Jason), Carthage, Missouri, and Brooke Gavino (Tobby), Pleasanton, California; a special daughter, Halley Fleming, Branson, Missouri; grandchildren, Wyatt, Bella, Isaac, Samuel, Brock, and Teagan; a brother, John W. Higginbotham, Jr., Carthage, Missouri; a sister, Connie Alexander (Michael), Tulsa, Oklahoma; a host of nieces and nephews; and many extended family and friends.

Memorial services will be held at 3 pm, Saturday, April 1, 2023, at Grace Episcopal Church, Carthage. Inurnment will follow in Grace Episcopal Church Columbarium. The family suggests contributions be made to Grace Episcopal Church, Carthage, Missouri. Online condolences may be expressed through www.knellmortuary.com.
