Roy Gibson

Oren LeRoy "Roy" Gibson, age 79, of Joplin, passed away on Friday, March 3, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.

Oren LeRoy Gibson was born to Paul Oren Gibson and Maxine Gibson on April 26th 1943 in Elko, Nevada.

He was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Maxine Gibson and brother Paul Gibson.

Roy worked in sales for Western Southern Life Insurance Company and Guy's Potato Chips. After obtaining an Electrical Engineering degree, he started working for Amoco, traveling the world as a Geological Engineer, a very challenging and rewarding career he loved.

He was a stranger to no one, forging lifelong friendships with clients and colleagues. Roy was authentically and wholeheartedly there for those in his life.

He was a truly great man whose impact will be forever felt by his family, that loves him dearly. He was a selfless man whose passing left an unfillable gap in the hearts of his loved ones. His ability to sacrifice, provide, support, forgive, and love will be forever engrained in all he knew.

Roy is survived by one brother, Charles and wife Patricia Gibson, of Joplin. Son, Doug Gibson and wife Michelle, of Nixa, one daughter Kristie Gibson, of Pensacola, Florida, grandsons Brandon Doss and wife Ashley of Joplin, Craig Roland and wife Rachelle of Joplin, Mason Peth and Evan Peth of Pensacola, Florida, great- grandchildren Zachary, Alaina, Chance, Bryce, and Bella Roland all of Joplin.

Family and friends are welcome to attend a celebration of life on Tuesday, March 7th, 2023, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Parker Mortuary in Joplin.

Funeral arrangements are under the special direction of Parker Mortuary.
