David James

David A. James, 85, passed away Wednesday, December 3, 2025, in Carthage, Missouri. David was born June 1, 1940, in Carthage, Missouri, to Justin C. James and Carrie E. (Green) James. He was a lifetime resident of Carthage. 

David worked at W.R. Grace Powder Plant for 31 years and then with Schreiber Foods for 14 years. He was of the Baptist faith. David enjoyed the outdoors. He loved to fish, hunt and trap. 







David was united in marriage to Juanita A. Hoover on September 4, 1959, in Carthage; she survives.

David is survived by his wife of 66 years; two sons, Dale A. James (Becky) of Jasper, Missouri and Dustin James (Karen) of Joplin, Missouri; four daughters, Julie Bittick (Tom) of Carthage, Missouri, Jennifer Haines (Jack) of Englewood, Colorado, and the twins, Jodi Low (Clark) of Fairgrove, Missouri, and Jan Caddick (Justin) of Sarcoxie, Missouri; fourteen grandchildren, Tom Bittick, Jr., Casey Bittick, Justin James, Melissa Talcott, Luke Talcott, Davey James, Kristin Caddick, Cassidy Rideout, Wilder James, Pearson James, Kaleb Caddick, Cameron Low, and Nicholas Low; fourteen great grandchildren; one great great grandson; and two sisters, Gloria Thomas and Janice Bastings (Danny) both of Carthage, Missouri.

David is preceded in death by his parents, Justin and Carrie James; brother, J.C. “Jake” James; a sister, Ruth Carterman; and grandson, Derrick James in 1985. 








A graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 8, 2025, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Carthage, Missouri. A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Sunday, December 7, 2025, at Ulmer Funeral Home in Carthage, Missouri.
