Fred Frerer

Frederic Brooks Frerer, 73, of Duquesne (Joplin), Missouri, left us peacefully on November 30, 2025 close…to his loving wife and caring friends.

A Jesus following man, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, and teacher, “Good-Fred/Papou/Papa/Freddy,” will always be remembered for his giant, gentle, peaceful (yet, a bit of a rascal) spirit. Born on June 27, 1952, in Carthage, Missouri, Fred grew up the second of six children. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Marie.

He is survived by his wife, Raye, who looks forward to seeing him in heaven, three daughters and sons-in-law, Shannon Stuckenberg (David), Bethany Filakouridis (John) and Dara Taylor (Blayne) and eleven grandchildren. He also leaves several nieces, nephews and his brothers, Michael (Shirley) and Mark (Mary) and two sisters, Susan Myers and Ann Terrill (Bill) behind on earth and will reunite with Jan, Brother-in-law Steve, his youngest sister Jan, and grandbabies, and other dear ones already in Heaven.

Fred was a 1970 graduate of Jasper High School, completed his bachelor degree at MSSC in 1975, and his master's from SMSU. He was a teacher devoted to helping his students become their best selves, a strong and kind coach, a servant who thrived on serving on mission trips in Brazil, Mexico and the USA, and as a BSF leader who cared deeply for his group members and friends. He also served on the Duquesne City Council for many years and was an amazing food service manager for Sky Ranch Cave Springs Camp where he made sure the food was delicious! He was a living example of Psalm 1–a God loving, Jesus following man!

We will celebrate his home-going to heaven on December 15, 2025 4:00pm at Harmony Heights Baptist Church, 2025 S Indiana Ave, Joplin, MO.

  1. Raye-he was such a good man and you and your family’s love for him shined through the love and all the support you showered him with. Your advocacy for him through his journey goes unmatched. He truly was a strong man in will and spirit and fought hard for your family. He will be missed. I am blessed to have known him.
