(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)Marjorie M. Whyte, age 96, of Joplin, MO went to be with the Lord on December 9, 2025 in Joplin, MO.
Marjorie was born on December 2, 1929 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire to her parents
Philip and Marion (Amazeen) Marshall. She married her husband, Larry Whyte, on July 11, 1959, and to their union they had six children.
After graduating Portsmouth High School in 1948. She worked for General Electric as an assembly technician for 10 years prior to their wedding day. On their honeymoon they moved to Joplin and started a rewarding and loving life of 66 years. Her hands kept busy in the home raising five children, cooking, sewing, quilting and her flower gardens. After raising her children, she went to work at Ben Franklin Craft Store to keep her hands busy for a few years waiting for Dad to retire.
Mom was a dedicated Christian and lifetime member of Villa Heights Christian Church.
She was there every time the doors were open. Singing in the choir and singing duets with Dad. Everyone loved her pies, and she would help out anywhere she could. She continued praying and praising Jesus’ name until her last breath.
She is preceded in death by an infant daughter Nancy Whyte, her parents Philip Sr and Marion Marshall, two brothers Philip Marshall Jr, Frank Marshall, one sister Priscilla Marshall.
Marjorie is survived by her husband, Larry Whyte; children, Cynthia (Mark) Bernhardt
of Indianapolis, IN, Gary (Wanda) Whyte of Joplin, MO, Janice (Tom) Land of Joplin, MO, Stephanie (Scott) Skoglund of Carl Junction, MO, and Barbara (Shawn) Anderson of Joplin, MO. Also, thirteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren with two on the way.
Marjorie is leaving behind a great extended family here and in New England, her home she never forgot.

A special thanks to the staff at The Arbors Memory Care in Joplin that fell in love with her and continue to care and love on Dad. Also, thank you to the staff and nurses at Freeman Hospital for the care she received in her final days.
She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Services will be held at 11:00am, Friday, December 19, 2025 at Mason-Woodard Mortuary with a visitation prior to the service beginning at 10:00am.
