(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)Thelma Gloriene Brazeel (Jones), age 96, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2025. She was born on September 4, 1929, in Cecil, Arkansas, to Jesse and Iva Jones.
Thelma grew up in a lively home surrounded by six siblings—one brother and five sisters—whose closeness shaped her early years. She later devoted much of her life to caring for others, working for many years as a Nurse Assistant at Baptist Regional Health Center. Her steady hands, warm spirit, and compassion touched countless lives.
A joyful, fun-spirited woman, Thelma had a way of making people feel welcome and loved. Her laughter was easy, her kindness genuine, and she made friends wherever she went. She had a deep appreciation for the beauty of the natural world—birds, animals, trees, and all of creation brought her great delight throughout her life.
On May 31, 1947, Thelma married the love of her life, John Brazeel, in Yakima, Washington. Together they built a family and raised three children—two sons and one daughter—creating a home marked by love, warmth, and resilience.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; her brother, Errol Jones; and her sisters Joyce Risley, Kay Brown, and June Kaleva.
Thelma is survived by her daughter, Janet Ketron and husband Rob; her sons Paul Brazeel and Steven Brazeel and wife Marilyn; her sisters Dola Alexander and Lola Stoumbaugh; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished and the many lives she brightened with her joyful spirit.
