Mildred Louise Smith, age 73, of Lamar, passed away early Saturday morning, August 29, 2015 at Truman Healthcare Center.
Louise was born September 7, 1941, at Warrior, Alabama, one of the six daughters of Lindsey and Mary (Doss) Crane. She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters.
On January 18, 1964, at Kansas City, Missouri, Louise married Larry C. Smith. They made their home in Kansas City until moving to Lamar in 2002. In addition to being a pastor’s wife and dedicated homemaker, Louise had owned and operated a housekeeping business. She was a devoted wife and mother who especially cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Larry, of the home; four sons and their wives, Michael (April) McIntosh, Salina, Ohio, Glen (Rhonda) Smith, Lamar, James (Kathy) Smith, Raytown, Missouri, and Jason (April) Smith, Coffeyville, Kansas; two sisters, Jackie Neely, Kansas City, Missouri and Mary Inez Ryals, Independence, Missouri; 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a large extended family.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 5th at Lamar Family Ministries Center with Pastor Bob Petersen officiating.
