Alice Lee Porter Parker, age 86, Joplin, passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at her home after a sudden illness.
Alice was born July 27, 1929 in Helena, Missouri, daughter of the late Clyde Houston Porter and Ethel Nancy Evans Porter. Alice was a 1947 graduate of Joplin High School She was a wonderful wife, mother and homemaker. Alice was very well known for her decorated and chocolate chip cookies.
She married Billy Gene "Bill" Parker on March 27, 1948 in Bentonville, Arkansas, he preceded her in death on April 3, 2002. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Albert Porter, and two sisters, Thelma Young and Stella Irene Wilson.
Survivors include her children, Deborah "Debbie" Mitchell and husband Tom of Jamestown, Indiana, Bill Parker and wife Lynette of Grandview, Missouri, Paul Parker and wife Mary of Springfield, Missouri, and Andy Parker and wife Traci of Diamond, Missouri; sister, Alberta M. Matusiak of Tucson, Arizona; grandchildren, Kelly Michael Parker, Retta Maria Parker-Stevenson, Shemaryah Rae Hawkins, David Leviyah "Levi" Parker, and Olivyah Abagayl Parker; step grandchildren, Kevin, Bobby, Tristan and Sean Mitchell as well as Megan Thomas and Haeli Harmon; two great-grandchildren, Averi and Sophia Hawkins.
Funeral services will be Friday, April 29 at 10:00 a.m. in the Parker Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Jeff D. Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
