Franklin Everett Bond, age, 81 of Joplin, passed away Monday, May 2, 2016 at Freeman Hospital following an extended illness.
Franklin was born February 21, 1935 in Lone Star, Kansas to the late Everett A. Bond and Lottie Wiggins Bond. He attended Rosedale High School before going off to support his family. Franklin worked hard driving for companies such as M&A Transportation, Boss Truck Line and Yellow Freight. He was a business agent and former Secretary/Treasurer for Local #823 Teamsters Union. He later retired from Clarkson Construction. Franklin was a member of Joplin Church of Christ where he was active up to his ill health.
On February 5, 1956, Franklin married Evelyn E. Renier at the Kansas City Church of Christ. She survives of their home in Silver Creek.
Additional survivors include sons, Robert Bond of Kansas City, Missouri, Brian Bond of Joplin; daughters, Deana Hines of Joplin and Franki Haizlip and husband, Trenton of Midlothian, Texas; grandchildren, Brooke Brown, Hailey Couch and husband, Matthew, Hope Hines, Chelsea and Carley Haizlip; great-grandchild, Rebecca Couch and one on the way, Aurora; sisters, Twila Williams of Bonner Springs, Kansas and Sandra McTaggart of Merriam, Kansas; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
He was additionally preceded in death by an infant son, Franklin E. Bond, Jr. and a sister, Caroline Reynolds.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 6 at 1:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary. Family will receive friends on Thursday from 6-7:00 p.m. also at the mortuary.
After services, Franklin will be taken for cremation.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
