Homer Booth

Homer Lee Booth, 83 years, of Goodman, Missouri departed this life on Monday, April 25, 2016, at his home surrounded by his wife, Nellie Booth and family after a 25 year battle with cancer.

Homer was born on June 17, 1932 in Anderson, Missouri, the youngest of nine children born to the union of Clinton and Hazel (Newburn) Booth. He attended school in Anderson, Missouri. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. His employment history included, Walrafren Construction in Emporia, Kansas; Fire Department in Emporia, Kansas; Diplomat Homes in Noel, Missouri; Taylor Homes in Anderson, Missouri. In 1976 Homer started a pullet laying operation and in the mid eighties went into business with his son, Kevin, as Booth Farms Inc. beef cattle as well. He enjoyed cat fishing, farming and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton and Hazel (Newburn) Booth; two brothers, Calvin Booth and Wilbur Booth; two sisters, Rhoda Johnson and Dorothy Booth.

Homer is survived by his loving wife, Nellie Booth of Goodman, Missouri and they had just celebrated 60 years of marriage on December 17, 2015; two brothers, Ralph Booth of Neosho, Missouri, Raymond Booth of Buffalo, Missouri; two sisters, Nadine Martin of Anderson, Missouri and Louise Beehler of Fairland, Oklahoma; son, Kevin and wife, Dorothy of Goodman, Missouri; daughter, Laurie Booth and husband, Bob of Goodman, Missouri; former son-in-law, Jim Hall; three grandsons, John Booth, Ryan Booth and wife, Shannon, Jason Hall and wife, Tara; granddaughter, Shawna Stoutsenberger and husband, Teddy; former granddaughter-in-law, Amy Hall; eight great grandchildren, Layla, Makayla, Bryce, Hayley and Avarey Hall, Tyler, Keegan and Rylee Stoutsenberger; several nieces and nephews; along with a host of other relatives and friends who will dearly miss Homer. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to those who helped care for Homer; a special thank you to Hospice Compassus.
