Katy Brizendine

Catherine E. "Katy" Brizendine, age 86, Asbury, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin.

Katy was born October 22, 1926 in Joplin, daughter of the late John and Lola Coy, and was a lifelong resident of this area. She worked in the Medical field as a nurse's aide for many years working for Oak Hill Hospital/Freeman Hospital, and several area nursing homes. She was also a waitress at Cindy's Cafe in Joplin, and later with Otto's Cafe in Pittsburg, Kansas. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and the Asbury Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Katy was preceded in death by two brothers, Marvin Joe Coy and James Weber.

Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Jerry Brizendine, two daughters, Carol Humbard of Joplin, Milli Andresen and husband Martin of Manor, Texas; four grandchildren, Brandy Dittman and husband Ben of Fairgrove, Missouri, Matt Kellhofer of Joplin, Nate Kellhofer and wife Delaina of Hume, Missouri, and Heather Vance and husband Brit of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; nine great-grandchildren, Alexis, Taylor, Emily, Cheyenne, Kaitlyn, Shahala, Jonathan, Malachi, and Xavier.
