Mr. Billy Wayne Nelson, 69, of Warner, Oklahoma, formerly of Southwest City, Missouri, departed this life on Wednesday, November 8, 2017, at the Cornerstone Hospital in Muskogee, Oklahoma, after a long battle with health concerns.
Billy entered this life on April 30, 1948, in Aransas Pass, Texas, born to the union of the late Jack and Reba Nadine (Marson) Nelson. He was raised and attend school in San Antonio, Texas. Billy worked in the field of radio for several years as a disc jockey. His employment included radio stations in Miami, Oklahoma, Southwest City, Missouri and Copperas Cove, Texas. He resided in Southwest City from 2003, until moving to Warner, Oklahoma in 2015. Billy had a fun-loving personality. He enjoyed joking and visiting with his friends and family. He was also a huge fan of the Texas Longhorns. Billy was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sulphur Springs, Arkansas.
His parents and two brothers, James and Mike Nelson preceded him in death.
Billy is survived by his two brothers, Jack Nelson, Jr. and wife, Rita, of Copperas Cove, Texas and Jerry Nelson and wife, Lou, of Tomball, Texas; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Nelson are 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 14, 2017, in the Southwest City Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Pastor Gairy Osburn, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Rolston Cemetery near Afton, Oklahoma. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6-7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
