Louise Beatrice Fields, age 85 of Joplin, Mo., transitioned to be with the Lord on October 27th, 2017, following a short illness.
Louise was born on October 24th, 1932, to the late Wade and Rosetta Ormand Barksdale, in Emelle, Al., from that union she was one of ten children. The family moved to Joplin in the late 1950s. Louise was a housekeeper in private homes for 20 plus years before returning to school to obtain her LPN License. She went on to have a 25 year career before retiring from St. John’s Medical Center. In 1951, she married Lieutenant Burton, preceding her in death. This union was blessed with four children. In 1972, she married Chester Fields, preceding her in death, where the union was blessed with two children.
Louise was a Christian who served God for many years and loved to talk about our Lord and graciously served as an usher and was head of the Usher Board and Mission Board for several years. Louise had a very kind nature and she loved a good conversation. She was known for her friendly spirit and her kindness towards other people. She will be greatly missed.
Louise is survived by two sons; David Fields of Joplin, Danny Fields of Oklahoma City, Ok., three daughters; Bertha Burton of Joplin, Rosie Lee and husband Bernard of Houston, Tx., Laura Fields-Jackson and husband Leeroy of Joplin, two step-daughters; Kathy Britt and Kristen Cain, grandson; Tierre Fields, who was raised by Chester and Louise, fourteen grandchildren, fourty-one great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren, one brother; R.L. Barksdale and wife Claira of Colorado Springs, Co., four sisters; Kathy Monroe and Letha Chadida both of Lee’s Summit, Mo., Arlene Samuels and Johnnie Mae Johnson of Kansas City, Mo., and numerous in-laws, nieces nephews, extended family and many friends. Louise was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, her daughter; Stephanie Burton, a granddaughter; Raven Fields, a brother; J.B. Barksdale, and four sisters; Susie Barksdale, Vandora Cox, Pearl Gilmore and Magnolia Robertson.
Louise’s Home Going Celebration will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 3, 2017 at the Mason-Woodard Chapel. Pastor Samuel Nero, will officiate. Burial will follow at Parkway Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in care of the mortuary.
