(From Clark Funeral Home)
Mary Beth (Dorsey) Lane was born November 24, 1925 in Oklahoma City, OK to Paul H. and Lois P. Dorsey. Her pilgrimage on Earth ended November 5, 2017. She had four siblings: Patricia, Paul, Margaret, and Phil. All preceded her in death. In 1944, while attending the University of Arkansas, Mary Beth met Razorback football standout Calvin Lane. They were married, and after graduate school, moved to Neosho, MO where they lived happily ever after. Jim and Betsy, their two children, were blessed to have them as parents.
Mary Beth returned to school to obtain a degree in education, and spent several years as business education instructor at Seneca High School. She also served as sponsor to the Senior Class. Her tenure as educator is fitting, since her maternal grandmother, Susan Miller Dorsey, was the first female superintendent of the Greater Los Angeles School District in California.
Mary Beth was active in the Neosho Chapter of PEO, and was a member of the Neosho United Methodist Church. She was an avid bridge player, and immensely enjoyed bird watching.
In addition to her parents and siblings, Mary Beth was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin and her daughter, Betsy King. Those remaining to celebrate a life extremely well lived include her son, Jim (Bud) Lane and wife, Dianna; son-in-law, Lee King; grandchildren, Erin, Austin, James, Arica, Stephanie, and Cal; great grandchildren, Kayla, Grayson, Kyler, Silas, Finley, Nicholas, Ember, Piper, Brooks, and Ellis; as well as countless friends.
Services will be held at the Neosho United Methodist Church at 10:00 am, Saturday, November 11, 2017. In lieu of flowers, Mary Beth requested that you plant a tree in her memory to provide Oxygen for those of us left behind.
