Jackie Sue Pope, age 73, Joplin, passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2017 at the Communities of Wildwood after a battle with cancer.
Jackie was born October 29, 1944 in Carterville, Missouri, daughter of the late John Fields and Reathel Miller Fields. She attended Carterville Schools, graduated from Carterville High School, and married Dennis Pope on March 30, 1960. She worked several jobs in this area in sales before she and Dennis opened an upholstery shop in their home. She worked with her husband in AAA Upholstery for over 30 years. She would take long walks, enjoyed dancing, and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She attended St. Paul United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, Jackie was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years Dennis, on June 18, 2013. She was also preceded by three sisters.
Survivors include her children, Jerry Pope and wife Martha of Carl Junction, Stacie Hayes and husband Josh of Joplin, and Kevin Pope, also of Joplin; grandchildren, Haley Pope, Erika Matthews and husband C.J., Ashlyn Pope, Brooke Pope, Easton Hayes, Addison Hayes, and Keri Pope; great-grandchildren, Shae Matthews and Shannon Matthews; two sisters, Judy Baker and Pat Sampson both of Joplin; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. at Mount Hope Cemetery Pavilion with Rev. Bob Simon officiating.
Her ashes will be inurned with her husband in Mount Hope.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
