Joan Louise Smith, age 78, of Sheldon, Missouri died at her home, Saturday, December 30, 2017 after a short illness.
Joan was born December 25, 1939 at Sheldon to Travis and Necie (Ambler) Wells. She had worked for Fox Deluxe Pizza, as a waitress and most recently in the dietary department at Nevada Regional Hospital until her retirement. Joan enjoyed reading, taking walks, and watching the Dallas Cowboys Football, but spending time with her grandchildren was what brought her the greatest joy.
Joan is survived by two daughters, Tammy Krewson, Sheldon, Missouri and Sherri Cramer, Lamar, Missouri; a former stepson, Doyle York, Jasper, Missouri; a special friend, Lee Dozier; one sister, Edna Clark, Lamar, Missouri; a niece, Sandy Lucas, Lamar, Missouri; five grandchildren, Kevin Smith, Jerico Springs, Missouri, Colby Rector, Golden City, Missouri, Crystal Starne, Lockwood, Missouri, Trish Smith, and Amanda Smith, both of Lamar, Missouri; 16 great-grandchildren, and one grand-nephew.
Preceding her in death were her parents; a grandson, Aubrey Don Rector; a great-grandson Garth Lee Seaton, a great-granddaughter, Leslie Dawn Ball, and a grand-nephew Jason Lucas.
Funeral service will be 10:00 am, Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Daniel Funeral Home with burial to follow in Tolson Cemetery, northeast of Sheldon.
