Wana Carman

Mrs. Wana Geneva Carman, 91, of Neosho, Missouri, departed this life on Sunday, December 31, 2017, at Medicalodge in Neosho, Missouri, after months of declining health.

Wana entered this life on October 14, 1926, daughter of the late Lawrence Earl and Maude Pearl (Lipe) Divine. She was born and raised on the banks of Buffalo Creek in the Owens Community west of Anderson, Missouri. On June 11, 1947, in the Westlove School House just west of Goodman, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Marvell Arthur Carman and to this union two daughters and one son were born. Besides being a hardworking and devoted homemaker, she also worked for Sherry’s Dress Shop and Pick & Save, both located on the Neosho Square. After retiring they moved to Miami, Oklahoma, in 1998. For several years she and Marvell served in countless area revivals singing songs about their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. After the passing of her beloved Marvell, Wana returned home to Neosho, in 2005. She enjoyed playing the piano, organ and the accordion as well as reading and sewing projects. Wana attended Worship services at the Banner Church of the Nazarene.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, of fifty-eight years, Marvell Carman on June 15, 2005; and three siblings, Grace Cummings, Hazel Medlin and Gene Divine.

Wana is survived by her three children, Terry Carman of Neosho, Missouri, Connie Rogers and husband, Ronnie, of Goodman, Missouri and Linda Carman of Joplin, Missouri; two grandchildren, Matthew Witt of Monett, Missouri and Mark Witt of Tulsa, Oklahoma; four great grandchildren, Luke, Jacob, Zacharias and Paul Witt; a brother, George Divine of Albuquerque, New Mexico; a brother in-law, Leon Carman of Springfield, Missouri; a sister in-law, Bessie Divine of Mounds, Oklahoma; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Carman are 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 5, 2018, at the Banner Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Dennis Bergen officiating. Burial will follow in the Banner Cemetery. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Matthew Witt, Mark Witt, Luke Witt, Zacharias Witt, Jacob Witt, Darren Divine and Kevin Divine. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 5-7:00 p.m. in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of the Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Missouri. Memorials are being directed to the Banner Church Benevolent Fund c/o the funeral home.
