Mary Louise Robberson Thomas, 95, passed away at Spring River Christian Village in Joplin, Missouri, on Saturday, January 6, 2018.
The daughter of Leo and Lura Brown Robberson, Louise was born January 25, 1922 in Cassville, Missouri.
Louise was married to Charles Doyle Thomas for nearly 61 years, having met at Cassville High School and marrying September 20, 1942; he preceded her in death in September of 2003.
Louise became a Christian at an early age, growing up on Flat Creek in Barry County, Missouri. She was always very active in church work and was music director at the First Baptist Church, Cassville, for many years. At the time of her death, Louise was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Joplin, Missouri.
Louise received her Bachelor of Education degree with certification in English and Music from Missouri State University, Springfield, and her Master’s degree from Drury University, Springfield. She taught school in many Barry County schools, retiring from Cassville High School where she had taught most of her thirty year career.
Louise was always very appreciative of the kind words of gratitude many former students she taught through the years had expressed to her later in life.
Louise is survived by one daughter, Lynette Clemons and husband, Tom, of Defiance, Missouri. She is also survived by three grandsons, Garrett Clemons and wife, Sandra, great-granddaughter, Audrey of Denver, Colorado; Grant Clemons and wife, Martha, great-grandchildren, Jenna and Jackson of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Greg Clemons and wife, Allison, of Lake St. Louis, Missouri.
A private burial will take place at Osborne Cemetery in Joplin with services being held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
