Jeanie Holloway

Lola 'Jeanie' Holloway, age 74, formerly of Queen City, Missouri, passed away October 5, 2015 at her home in Joplin, surrounded by family.

Jeanie was born January 25, 1941 to the late Oren Valentine Slaughter and Dorothy Pearl Gosser Slaughter in Kirksville, Missouri. She was a 1959 graduate of Queens City High School and then attended Northeast Missouri State Teachers College. Jeanie was a homemaker but also worked hard in many other areas including most recently owning her own shop "Little Bit of Everything" in Crocker, Missouri.

Jeanie was active serving others in the community and her church. She was a member of Grace Community Bible Church in Kirksville, a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary as well as the Order of the Eastern Star.

Jeanie was a military wife, traveling the world with her husband Elbert "Bert" Holloway, whom she married on March 9, 1961 in Kirksville, Missouri. He survives of the home in Joplin.

Additional survivors include her sons, Wayne D. Holloway and wife, Debbie of Killeen, Texas, Lloyd R. Holloway and wife, Jutta of Joplin; daughters, Sandra L. Dixon and husband, Brent of Rolla, Missouri, Debra D. Stroud and husband, Robert of Greentop, Missouri; sisters, Elizabeth Slaughter of Kirksville and Connie Slaughter-Hawkins of Queen City, Missouri; 12 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild; many nieces, nephews and extended family.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, October 8th at 4:00 p.m. at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Joplin. Another memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 10th at 1:30 p.m. at Grace Community Bible Church, 1501 E. Northtown Rd, Kirksville, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Avalon Hospice or Grace Community Bible Church, both in care of the mortuary.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
