Ben was born on February 23, 1941 to Timothy and Gertrude (Allen) Moore, in Burgess, Missouri. Ben graduated from Arma (Kansas) High School with the Class of 1958.

After some time spent working in the lab at Eagle Picher and as a screen printer at Vog-Togs, both in Galena, Kansas, Ben settled into a long career in the maintenance department at Empire District Electric Company, retiring in 2001.

Ben married Carol Jean Anerdi on September 14, 1961 in Arma, Kansas. Together they made homes in Joplin, Columbus and Pittsburg before settling in Riverton in 1968.

Other hobbies he enjoyed were woodworking and keeping his yard looking immaculate. He also spent many years devoting considerable time to coaching both his daughters in softball.

Ben is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Janiece Toms and Sandra Hartzfeld, and one brother, Jack Moore.

He is survived by his wife, Carol, of the home, two daughters; Cathi Willett (James) of Baxter Springs, and Christi Moore, of Wichita, and three grandsons, Jason (Lauren) Burkhart, of Webb City MO, Christopher (Lisa) Burkhart, of Springfield, MO and Michael Padilla, of Kansas City, MO. Also surviving Ben are his seven great-grandchildren, Cora, Anna, Eli, Alex, Maya, Audrey, and Ben Burkhart.

The family will receive friends on Friday, June 10, 2022 from 6 pm to 8 pm at Tennessee Prairie Church, 11370 SE 110th St. Galena KS 66739, with funeral services planned for Saturday, June 11, at 10 am at Tennessee Prairie Church. Ben’s grandson, Jason Burkart, will officiate. Burial will be in the Lowell Cemetery.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis TN 38105 or stjude.org
