Don Eaton

Donald L. “Don” Eaton, 80, of Oswego and a former Altamont resident, passed away at 4:05 a.m., Sunday, June 5, 2022, at the Presbyterian Manor in Parsons.

He was born on January 30, 1942, in Nevada, Missouri to Orville and Ellen (Brock) Eaton. Don grew up in various places eventually settling in Oswego where he graduated from Oswego High School in 1960.









Don worked as an Automotive Body Technician for several years before attending Pittsburg State University where he received his teaching certification. He taught Automotive Body Repair at Labette County High School for many years until his retirement in 2004.

Don enjoyed coaching little league baseball, collecting model trains, playing men’s fastpitch softball, and was a great pitcher. During his retirement years, his passion was raising Longhorn cattle.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Altamont.

He and Gloria Stewart were married on May 7, 1971, in Miami, Oklahoma.








Don is survived by his former spouse, Gloria Eaton of Altamont; his son Shane Eaton, and his wife, Amy of rural Altamont; his daughter, Jeannie Mitchell, and her husband, Guy of Jacksonville, FL; his grandchildren, Justin Marquis, Gabrielle Padgett, Ian Eaton, Griffin Eaton; his great-grandchildren, Loreina Padgett and Lyra Padgett; his sisters, Mary Ellen Vance, and her husband, Don of Carl Junction, Phyllis Walker, and her companion, John Allen of Parsons; and Joyce Carson, and her husband, Chris of rural Parsons; and several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, James Eaton, and a brother-in-law, Glenn Walker.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, June 13, 2022, at the Memorial Lawn Cemetery Patio with Pastor Greg Garrett officiating. Burial will follow. Friends may come to the Carson-Wall Funeral Home to sign the register.
