Edward Horton

Mr. Edward Horton, 93, of Quitman, Arkansas, departed this life on Sunday, May 29, 2022 at his residence with his loving family by his side.

Edward entered this life on January 22, 1929, in Southwest City, Missouri, son of the late Earl and Jeanette (Seamans) Horton. His formative years were spent in Southwest City, Missouri. Edward proudly served his country in the United States Army.








On February 13, 1955, he was united in marriage to Sarah Ellen DeVore and to this union three children were born. They resided in the Kansas City area for several years. 

 After retiring they resided in Warsaw and Neosho, Missouri before moving to McDonald County in 1990. He enjoyed watching baseball, was a Kansas City Royals and St. Louis Cardinals fan, loved telling stories about his life and childhood, that’s where he got the nickname “Windy”; cherished the time spent with his grandchildren; liked to go fishing every chance he got. Edward was of the Assembly of God Faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sarah Horton; step-mother, Sylvia; siblings, Jack, Ross and Bob Horton.






 

Edward is survived by his three children, Elmer Horton of Little Rock, Arkansas, Rose Darby and husband, Jim, of Purdy, Missouri and Mark Horton and wife, Judy, of Cabot, Arkansas; eight grandchildren, Bill Horton, Chris Horton, David Horton, Priscilla Mace, James Mace, Jr., Becky Young, Tabitha Baker and Mark A. Horton; sixteen great grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; siblings, Max Horton and wife, Pauline of Southwest City, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Horton will be held on Friday, June 3. 2022, at 10:00 a.m. in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Pastor Marilyn O’Brien officiating. Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery in Neosho, Missouri. 

 Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Bill Horton, Chris Horton, Michael Baker, James Mace, Jr., Mark A. Horton, James Baker, David Young and Ty Jones. Honorary Pallbearer will be David Horton. Visitation will be held at 9:00 am until service time on Friday, June 3, 2022 in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes.

In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be directed to Anderson Cemetery Association c/o Ozark Funeral Home.
