Florence Still

Florence Alice Still, 92, Carthage, Missouri, passed away Monday morning, May 30, 2022 at her home. Florence was born September 18, 1929 in Carthage, the daughter of Glenn B. Van Wey and Edith E. (Lown) Van Wey. She was a graduate of Carthage High School. 

Florence married the love of her life, James Still, on January 19, 1950 in Carthage. 

She worked in the bakery at Consumer’s Market in Carthage, and also helped her husband James with the Dixie Cream Donut Shop. She was a member of Fairview Christian Church in Carthage, where she was very active. She taught junior church and helped with church meals for 15 years. 








Florence loved quilting, collecting skunk figurines and Precious Moments figurines, but most of all, loved her family.

Survivors include her husband of 72 years, James Still; two sons, James Allen Still (Nila), Carthage, and Doyle Dean Still (Glenda), Carthage; six grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and many extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Everett Van Wey and Charles Van Wey; and four sisters, Rosie Harbison, Viola Peoples, Lois Templeton, and Wanda Van Wey.

Funeral services will be held 11 am, Friday, June 3, 2022 at Fairview Christian Church, Carthage. Burial will follow the service at Park Cemetery, Carthage. The family will receive friends from 10 am until service time at the church. Memorial gifts are suggested to Fairview Christian Church, Carthage in care of Knell Mortuary.
