Jimmy McKeel

James “Jimmy” Edward McKeel Jr., age 61, of Aurora, passed away on Monday, May 30, 2022 at his home.

Jimmy, son of James Edward McKeel Sr., and Joann Lewis Doty, was born on November 30, 1960 in Joplin. He grew up and attended school in Joplin until he relocated to Aurora in 1997. 

He worked in manufacturing and drove a vending route across the country for many years until ten years ago when he graduated from Franklin Technical school with a HVAC Technician certification. 








Jimmy enjoyed life attending Rocklahoma in Pryor, OK every year for the last 20 years, he wore a coveted snoopy tattoo on his ankle for most of his adult life, and was a skydiving instructor for more than 30 years. He adored his wonderful doggy companion named Libby, and loved his family and the time spent with his nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins who will all miss his presence.

Survivors include his mother, Joann Doty, of Joplin; siblings, Debra Martin, of Carl Junction, Richelle Denning, of Wichita, Regina Macanary, of Webb City, Jamie McKeel and Kenneth McKeel, both of Texas; his stepson, Jared Cooley, of Springfield; numerous nieces and nephews he loved as his own; aunts, uncles and cousins that meant the world to him; and many extended family members and friends.






 

Memorial services with Military Honors will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at 3:00 PM at Parker Mortuary.

A private scattering of ashes will be held at a later date. Contact Debbie Martin for further details.

Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin.
