Brian Oxford

(From Parker Mortuary)

Brian Oxford passed away on February 15th, 2024 due to existing health conditions that he battled over several years, having just turned 61 on Valentine’s Day.

Born to parents Albert Oxford and Edith Long Oxford, at General Hospital on February 14th, 1963 in Joplin, Missouri, which would end up being his lifelong home.

As a child and in his growing years, Brian enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his friends from neighboring homes. A community which would be the foundation for lifelong friendships that would carry into adulthood. Brian graduated from Parkwood High in 1982, which he would follow up with his first job with the City of Joplin of 8 years. Followed by Pepsi Cola of 6 years, and ultimately would wrap up his career with Walmart after 20 years of tenure. Officially retiring in 2003.

Known for his iconic and signature style of glasses and button-down shirts, he enjoyed watching reality shows, working on cars, especially when it came to his favorite model of car, the 1977 Monte Carlo that he would one day own and begin to restore. Most of all spending time with his family, and when it came to his nieces and nephews, they were always on his highlight reel, just as much as Brian was on theirs – viewed and respected as a father figure by many.
