Betty June Smith, 88, passed away December 1, 2016 in Fort Worth, Texas. Betty was born October 20, 1928 in Yates Center, Kansas to Herman John Phillips and Mabel (Culver) Phillips. She was a longtime resident of the Reeds area and moved from there in 1996 to be closer to family. She worked at Big Smith Manufacturing for several years and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Reeds, Missouri.
Betty was united in marriage to Floyd Smith November 29, 1948 in Harrison, Arkansas; he preceded her in death May 6, 2001.
Betty is survived by one daughter Donna Stroud and husband Jim of Blue Mound, Texas and one son Tim Smith and wife Ronda of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, seven grandchildren Danika Whitaker, Robin Brown, Kelly Haws, Maggie Heaps, Jenna Vuillemont, Jennifer Stroud, and Shawna Hendrick, seven great grandchildren Laren Haws, Juliana Haws, Jackson Haws, Liam Haws, Ella Whitaker, Braxton Potter and Kayden Brown. Two sisters Velma McNary of Carthage and Patricia Cogsill of Lake of the Ozarks and one brother Bill Phillips of Wanachie, Washington.
Betty is preceded in death by her husband and parents, two sisters Wilma Rabe and Mary Hill, two brothers Homer Phillips and Arthur Phillips.
Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at Ulmer Funeral Home. Burial will be at Oak Hill cemetery. Online condolences can be made at www.ulmerfh.com. Arrangements are under the direction of Ulmer Funeral Home.
